MY SISTER'S KEEPER to be pulled from cinemas, replaced by book text
Read this from IMDB:

Due to overwhelming concern that the film MY SISTER'S KEEPER is straying too far from its source material and due to complaints from forum members at the Internet Movie Database forums, ("The backbone of online film criticism", Paramount noted when they re-cut "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" earlier this year to appease the IMDB forum complaints) Warner Bros. is pulling the film from distribution on June 30th to re-relese a "book only" version of the film.

Over the weekend, the film grossed roughly $12 million, a low number for Warners. Immediately, the studio tried to figure out why and immediately went to the IMDB forums to figure out why. What they discovered on the message forums outraged them.

Dalty Schooltown, a 42 year old single soccer mom living in Rockwall, Texas, posted that she was infuriated that she went to see the film and there were things she hadn't read in the original book by Jodi Picoult. "I went to the film completely expecting every single page in the book to be faithfully represented. I was not interested in the performances, the direction by Nick Cassavetes, the soundtrack or that $7 bag of buttered popcorn I purchased at the concession stand. I went completely prepared to dissect the changes and note everything that was altered for the big screen. I even sat in the back corner with a copy of my book and a flashlight, trying to keep up as the film was showing."

She adds "One character says "Hi, how are you?" THEY DIDN'T SAY THAT IN THE BOOK! They SAID, "How's your day going?" Recut this movie or I will be banning it!" A request for a refund after the film was denied by management.

Davis Goodwin, a 32 year old IMDB forum member from Louisville, Kentucky, was also outraged. "They changed a character's hair color from black to brown. I was outraged. I need my details to be absolutely perfect, otherwise I'm a failure in life who can't enjoy everything. The movie should be a complete representation of the book, page in and page out."

In response, Warners is pulling the film to re-release a new cut of the film. In this case, however, it isn't simply going to be a re-edit from the currently filmed version. Instead, notes Warners, "We're just going to screen the pages from the book, in large text on the screen, and the audience can read the book in the cinema the way they do at home. It will, of course, be absolutely faithful to the source material as that's what you'll be seeing. Literally!"

Adds Warners, "We're not sure if we'll have a narrator or not yet. We fear all the "bookies" will revolt if it isn't Picoult reading it. Perhaps the audiences themselves can read it aloud in the theater." Warners also adds that the film will only have two screenings per day with a running time of five hours.

Should this new film become successful, it may spawn a future legions of adaptations where they will simply "blow up" the book to motion picture screens. "No longer will anyone complain that a film strays too far from the book because this character doesn't die or that character doesn't drive a Lexus," assures the folks from Warners, "As what is on screen will be, literally, the pages from the book. After reading the feedback after the lousy first weekend, we have realized that's what people want."

Storyline for My sister's keeper
I can't wait to watch this movie. I love Cameron.

This movie is based on the book "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Piccoult. This is from the back of the book: "Anna (Abigail Breslin) is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister Kate (Sofia Vassilieva) can somehow fight leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate-a life role that she has never challenged . . . until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister-and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable, a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for her sister she loves.
