Johnny Depp BIO

Johnny-Depp

Audiences received their first glimpse of Johnny Depp (born June 9th, 1963) when he became one of Freddy's victims in the horror flick A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984.  He later became a teen idol when he starred in the popular TV series "21 Jump Street" (1987 - 1990).  Johnny Depp loves to work with director Tim Burton and has done so on eight movies to date including his Golden Globe nominated performances in Edward Scissorhands in 1990, Ed Wood in 1994 and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2005.  His other notable collaborations with Tim Burton include movies such as Sleepy Hollow (1999), Corpse Bride (2005) and the critically-acclaimed Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008).  Although Johnny Depp has been known to shy away from Hollywood's limelight, it has become difficult with the box-office success of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy which includes 2003's The Curse of the Black Pearl, 2006's Dead Man's Chest, and 2007's At World's End.  Johnny Depp will surely continue his assault on Hollywood's box-office with upcoming films such as the period crime drama Public Enemies (2009) with Christian Bale and Channing Tatum and yet another Tim Burton collaboration, Alice in Wonderland (2010).
