Jake Gyllenhaal BIO

Jake Gyllenhaal (born December 19th, 1980) is one of today's most engaging actors who has taken on the most challenging of roles in his young career.  In 1991, Jake Gyllenhaal made his movie debut in City Slickers, playing the son of Billy Crystal.  It wasn't until eight years later that Jake Gyllenhaal would make his first starring role as Homer Hickam in October Sky.  In Jake Gyllenhaal's second movie, Donnie Darko (2001), he played the brother to his real life sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and was a critical success and a cult favorite among audiences.  Although Jake Gyllenhaal would star in the 2004 summer blockbuster, The Day After Tomorrow, he garnered the most attention for his Academy Award nominated role as a gay cowboy in 2005's Brokeback Mountain opposite Heath Ledger.  Jake Gyllenhaal continues to impress his audience by working on such great movies as Jarhead (2005) with Jamie Foxx, Zodiac (2007) with Mark Ruffalo, and Rendition (2007) with Reese Witherspoon.  Jake Gyllenhaal has a great line-up of movies including the war drama Brothers (2008) with Natalie Portman and Tobey Maguire and the comedy Nailed (2009) with Jessica Biel and James Marsden.
